The Senate has officially confirmed the appointment of Prof. Tunji Olaopa as the Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission ,FCSC.
The confirmation follows the adoption of the report presented by the Senate Committee on Establishment and Public Service during the Committee of the Whole session on Tuesday.
In addition to Prof. Tunji Olaopa, the Senate has also confirmed the appointment of 11 other members to the FCSC, representing various states across the federation. The confirmation process, initiated by President Bola Tinubu, aligns with Section 154 subsection 1 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended.
The committee, during its screening of the nominees, received pertinent documents from the office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate).
These documents included resumes, police clearance reports, and asset declaration documents. Following a thorough evaluation of the nominees’ qualifications, experience, and competency, the committee found them eminently qualified for their respective appointments.
Chairman Sen. Oluwole Cyril assured the Senate that there were no adverse security reports or petitions against the nominees. He highlighted their qualifications, professional experience, and competence, recommending their confirmation to the Senate.
The confirmation of these appointments underscores the commitment to maintaining a competent and effective Federal Civil Service Commission.
