The Senate has announced that its set to embark on a recess starting Friday, December 1, and would reconvene on December 12, 2023.
The announcement was made by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, shortly after President Bola Tinubu presented the 2024 budget to the National Assembly in a joint session.
Akpabio said the lawmakers upon resumption, will entertain the defence of the 2024 budget by Ministries, Departments, and Agencies of the Federal Government.
The Senate President requested that President Tinubu mandate all ministers and heads of agencies to avoid travelling engagements that would prevent them from honouring the Senate’s invitation to defend their budget estimates before relevant committee to ensure maximum attention to the budget defence.
Akpabio reiterated the National Assembly’s readiness to support the administration, adding that “our legislative agenda reflects our dedication to the Nigerian people, and we look forward to achieving remarkable milestones for our great nation under your purposeful leadership”.
