In a bid to promote and preserve the Igbo language, Vice President Kashim Shettima has inaugurated the Ijele 93.1FM Radio Station at Oraifite, Anambra State.
The radio station, founded by Mr. Emeka Offor is dedicated to broadcasting solely in Igbo, focusing on entertainment, news dissemination, and fostering unity, progress and social cohesion.
Residents expressed their appreciation for Emeka Offor’s philanthropic initiatives, emphasizing the positive impact on the community. Mr. Ikenga Okonkwo highlighted the station’s potential to create job opportunities for youths, providing them with a means of livelihood.
Widows, represented by Mrs. Amaka Nwachukwu, acknowledged Offor’s consistent support for the less privileged, elderly, and widows through his foundation.
Addressing the challenges posed by the removal of fuel subsidies, Emeka Offor recognized the importance of providing relief during challenging times.
As part of his commitment, he announced the distribution of 40,000 bags of 25kg long-grain rice to Anambra widows, aiming to alleviate their hardships and provide essential support.
The inauguration ceremony, attended by Governor Charles Soludo, showcased the radio station’s facilities, reinforcing its role in preserving Igbo culture and contributing to community welfare.
The event’s high point featured Vice President Shettima inspecting the field where widows awaited the distribution of rice and textile materials, symbolizing a lifeline of support for those in need.
