A 50-year-old man is expected to appear in court after being arrested in South Africa for allegedly stealing money from his 74-year-old mother’s handbag.
Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa, spokesperson for the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department ,EMPD, stated that the suspect was apprehended on Tuesday, December 12, 2023.
The 74-year-old female complainant claims that on December 6, at 11 a.m., she went to the bathroom while she and her mischievous son, the suspect, were relaxing at home. “The mother left behind a handbag containing an unknown amount of money,” Thepa explained.
“When she ,the mother, returned, the son had vanished. The handbag contained no money. “The mother is certain that her son stole the money,” she said.
The mother claimed that her 50-year-old son had stolen her cellphone’s memory card as well as a two-plate stove the previous week.
When confronted about the missing memory card and stove, the man denied knowing anything about the property.
“The sick and tired parent filed a theft report, and the perpetrator was apprehended and taken to the Daveyton police station.” “The detained suspect is expected to appear soon at the Daveyton Magistrate’s Court,” Thepa said.
