Eseme Eyiboh, the Senate president’s special adviser on media and publicity has denied a report that the Senate president, Godswill Akpabio, collapsed and was rushed to the National Hospital during the Colloquium held as part of the activities commemorating his 61st birthday.
In a statement issued on Friday, December 15, in Abuja, Eyiboh urged the public to disregard the false claim.
“The rumours that have come to our attention through word of mouth from concerned and patriotic stakeholders have been fanned by some social media news channels with a reputation for disseminating phony newsflashes,” Eyiboh said.
“It was especially troubling that the speculations on the Senate President’s well-being came after he was celebrated by the crème de la crème of the nation’s leadership across all sectors at the Colloquium focused on defining a legislative agenda for national development.”

Eyiboh stated that Akpabio spoke on his feet for more than 30 minutes, exposing his trajectory in a way never seen before.
“As the program concluded and President Bola Tinubu exited the Transcorp Hotel venue, Senator Akpabio’s expression to some of those around him that he was tired escalated to a fainting spell or collapse,” he said.
“Some more adventurous purveyors of untruth in their thrilling escapade of fiction even claimed that he is presently hospitalized and in a critical condition in the National Hospital, Abuja.
“This is completely false, and I declare unequivocally that, aside from saying he was exhausted in front of those around him, he was not rushed in a stretcher to the national hospital or indisposed.”
