In a heartfelt gesture of empathy and support, the wife of the Nigerian President, Oluremi Tinubu, visited the family of the late former Ondo state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, on Saturday, December 30.

This compassionate visit aimed to offer condolences and solidarity to the bereaved family during their time of grief.

Arriving at the Jerico residence of Akeredolu around 12:45 pm, Mrs. Tinubu was accompanied by notable dignitaries, including the deputy governor of Oyo state, Bayo Lawal, Oyo state Head of Service, Mrs. Olubunmi Oni, and Commissioners for Special Duties, Alhaja Faosat Sanni, among others. The solemn occasion witnessed the convergence of respected personalities to express their shared sorrow and honor the memory of the late governor.

Akeredolu’s wife, Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, and other members of the family warmly received the First Lady, acknowledging the significance of her presence during this challenging period. The visit unfolded at Akeredolu’s Ibadan residence, where Mrs. Tinubu conveyed her heartfelt condolences to the grieving family.

She extended her sincere wishes for comfort and solace to Akeredolu’s wife, children, grandchildren, and the entire family, praying that God would ease their pain during this challenging time.

Acknowledging the inevitability of human ailments, Mrs. Tinubu shared a poignant perspective on the fragility of life. She emphasized the need for gratitude for each day granted by God and concluded with a heartfelt prayer for the peaceful repose of Akeredolu’s soul.

The visit by the First Lady not only symbolized solidarity with the grieving family but also underscored the significance of recognizing and honoring the legacies of great leaders like Akeredolu. As the nation mourns the loss of a distinguished figure, Mrs. Tinubu’s compassionate words offer a beacon of hope and strength to those affected by this profound loss.
