In a three-part documentary, the British Broadcasting Corporation, BBC, has accused the late TB Joshua, founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, SCOAN, of widespread abuse and torture.
The investigation includes testimonies from over 25 former disciples spanning various countries, detailing instances of physical violence, child abuse, and people being whipped and chained within the church.
The BBC documentary, featuring testimonies from individuals in the UK, Nigeria, United States, South Africa, Ghana, Namibia, and Germany, alleges that TB Joshua was involved in acts of torture and abuse, including sexual assault and repeated rape of numerous women within the SCOAN compound.
The findings also indicate multiple allegations of forced abortions, with one woman claiming she underwent five abortions for the late televangelist.

Among the accusers is a British woman named Rae, who joined SCOAN at the age of 21 and spent the next 12 years as one of Joshua’s disciples. Rae shared harrowing experiences of sexual assault, solitary confinement for two years, and severe abuse that led her to attempt suicide multiple times within the compound.
SCOAN has not responded to the allegations in the BBC investigation, reiterating previous denials of claims against TB Joshua. The church stated, “Making unfounded allegations against Prophet TB Joshua is not a new occurrence… None of the allegations was ever substantiated.”
The BBC report also highlights that former followers of the church have claimed previous attempts to speak out about abuse were silenced by SCOAN. The documentary raises serious questions about the alleged abuses within SCOAN and the need for accountability.
As the revelations come to light, the late TB Joshua’s legacy faces renewed scrutiny, and the documentary has sparked discussions about the responsibility of religious institutions to address allegations of abuse within their ranks.
