Nigeria’s minister of defense, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, stated that maintaining bilateral defense ties with France was a priority for the federal government.

He made this statement upon the reception of the French ambassador to Nigeria, Emmanuelle Blatmann, and her delegation at the Ship House in Abuja.

Henshaw Ogubike, the Ministry’s Director of Information, Press, and Public Relations, stated in a statement on Wednesday that Nigeria was prepared to strengthen its current ties with France.
“Nigeria is ready to build on the existing relationship between the two countries,” the statement read.

“The technology transfer and training would further strengthen the bilateral relations shared by both countries.”

He said both nations are strategic partners and pledged to further strengthen their relationship to higher levels of operations, while also thanking the departing ambassador for their cordial relationship with Nigeria.
Emmanuelle Blatmann, the ambassador, had earlier expressed her gratitude to the Nigerian government for its kind gesture, love, and trust.

Furthermore, the Ambassador stated that in order to combat extremism, the terror movement, and regional insecurity, there was a need to strengthen intelligence sharing cooperation between the two nations.

Mrs. Blatmann announced that she had been appointed Head of African and Indian Ocean at the French Foreign Affairs Ministry, and she pledged to work with Nigeria more closely to strengthen France’s defense ties with that country.
