The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, NCDMB, plans to unveil its Oil and Gas Park at Emeyal 1, Ogbia in Bayelsa State before the end of the year.

The Project Manager at the site, Eng Kelly Olaye dropped the hint Friday while evaluating the progress of work at the 24 hectares complex, one of many such facilities designed to boost Nigeria’s local content capacity in the oil and gas sector from 55 to 70 per cent.

Recall that the Nigerian Oil and Gas Park Scheme is a policy being piloted by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, NCDMB, to drive the promotion of manufacturing in Oil and Gas industry and its linkage sectors in Nigeria.

The scheme is being built across all the nine Niger Delta States. Indeed, the Odukpani facility in Cross River State is completed, Engr. Olaye told the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers at the Emeyal 1 scheme, where majority of key facilities have been delivered while others will be set before the end of the year.

The massive industrial hub boasts of 24/7 uninterrupted power supply, Ashpalt-paved internal road network, water treatment plant, effluent  treatment plant, administrative building block, mini-park Estate of Blocks of Flats, capacity building (training centre) Block, drainage system, security gatehouse, hostel block and fire station amongst others.

Corroborating the consultant’s presentations, the General Manager of Corporate Communications and Zonal Interventions at NCDMB, Eng Ginah O. Ginah noted that apart from the listed infrastructures coming with the park, there are provisions and land spaces for willing investors to develop customized facilities that will add value to their activities at the

Ginah said there are provisions for private entrepreneurs to develop manufacturing shop floor/warehouses, oil and gas processing plants and others with different number of plot sizes as may be demanded by investors.

The NOGaPS Emeyal 1 scheme is situated along Otuoke-Emeyal 1 Road in Ogbia, Bayelsa State. It is accessible from Imiringi, Opolo and newly dualized (funded by SUKUK bond) Yenegoa-Kolo to Otuoke to Bayelsa Palm Road.

Meanwhile, the NCDBM management has given insights on why it is currently upgrading the 10 Megawatt installed capacity of its power plant in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital to 20 Megawatt.

Engr Ginah said the idea was part of the agency’s expansion scheme.

“With the currently generated 10 Megawatt, the plant is servicing our head office, the Nigerian Content Tower in Yenagoa and Bayelsa State Government House 24/7.

“But with the ongoing double upgrade, we are ready to power mega estates in Yenagoa, who are willing to take electricity from us. Besides, the upgrade will supply power to the almost completed National Oil and Gas Park Scheme at Emeyal 1 in Ogbia Local Government of the state,” Gina explained.

He also disclosed that the has-power plant is was conceived as part of the NCDMB’s general development plan to grow local content in the Nigerian oil and gas industry.
