Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo has terminated a road contract awarded to NBHH Engineering Company.
The governor announced the immediate termination of the road project contract when he visited the site unannounced on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, and lambasted the company for negligence and delay in delivering nine roads totaling 14.053 km in Okpoko.
Soludo, who addressed the supervisor of the project, said: “This road was supposed to be finished by June last year. Eight months later, you are yet to complete it. You can’t do the job. The job was supposed to last for nine months, and you were adequately mobilised.

“This is February 20, and you are supposed to have delivered the job. It shows that you are incompetent to do the job. After we paid you 50 percent mobilisation. There is nowhere in the country where 50 percent is paid. Here and here, this contract is terminated, and you can remove your things here, and tomorrow we will know who will complete this project.”
The nine road projects are domiciled in Okpoko, a sprawling slum in the heart of Onitsha, which the governor had sworn to transform.
