The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has taken swift action to fill the position of head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria after Jose Peseiro decided not to continue in the role.
In a statement posted on all his social media platforms, the coach announced his departure from the team after his contract expired as exclusively revealed by OwnGoalNigeria.com.
Although he had the option to extend his deal, he declined due to a disagreement over wages. Peseiro led the team to the Africa Cup of Nations final, where they lost 1-0 to the host nation, Cote d’Ivoire. He will be replaced by Austine Eguavoen, who will serve in an interim capacity.
