The Ovie of Umiaghwa Abraka Kingdom in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, Lucky Ararile, has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to intervene and order the military stationed in the troubled Okuama community to withdraw from the area.
He described the killing of 17 military personnel who were on a peace mission to the community as “an unfortunate, regrettable, and condemnable situation.” Speaking during a thanksgiving service marking his 12 years on the throne at the First Baptist Church, Oria, the traditional ruler emphasized that the manner in which the soldiers were killed did not align with the culture of the Urhobo and other ethnic groups in the Niger Delta region.
“No ethnic group in the Niger Delta has it as a culture to desecrate the bodies of the dead.

“We don’t chop off people’s heads, remove their hearts, or dismember them.
“Nevertheless, residents need to return back and try to get their lives back and start rebuilding.
“The destruction that was carried out in Okuama after the murder of the military men was regrettable too.” The monarch went on to say, “In order to avoid such incidents, security operatives must stick to their roles.”
He expressed worry that “in Nigeria, the Army does the job of the police, while the NSCDC does the job of everyone else.” “The only jobs that others cannot do is that of the Air Force because they cannot fly planes.” The traditional ruler also addressed Tinubu’s performance thus far, stating that “the President is on track.”
“The President did well by assembling a strong economic team,” he remarked. This indicates that he is aware of the challenges, has solutions in mind, and has his hands on the table.
The monarch asked Nigerians to continue to support the Federal Government in its efforts to improve Nigeria and to exercise patience with the President.
