A journalist with the Abubakar Rimi Television Friday night escaped death after he was reportedly hit by a stray bullet at the Kano State Government House.
Naziru Idris said he was hit by the bullet on Friday at around 8:30pm, after returning from an assignment with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
Credible News reports that the incident occurred amidst the observance of World Press Freedom Day set aside by the United Nations, on May 3rd annually.
Mr Idris said he and other colleagues had been asked to wait for another function and were gisting when the bullet hit his shoulder.

He was rushed to the Government House clinic where he was treated for minor injuries and discharged.
However, the source of the stray bullet could not be identified at the time of the incident.
It was learnt that the government house security officials had retrieved the bullet and were analyzing it in order to identify its origin.
Nither the Kano State Police Command nor the State Government had any immediate reaction to the incident.
