The National Identity Management Commission, NIMC, and the House of Representatives Committee on National Population, are seeking areas of collaboration towards the achievement of the Commission’s mandate and fostering a harmonious working relationship.
To achieve this objective, a retreat on Identity Management and Legislative Oversight was recently organized by the Commission in Abuja with the aim of re-acquainting the committee members with the activities, mandate and mission of the agency.
The NIMC Director-General, Engr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote explained that the event was also meant to provide the needed environment for the lawmakers and the management of the Commission to identify possible areas of collaboration and build a harmonious working relationship towards the success of digital identity in Nigeria.
The Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Population, Okunjimi Odimayo commended the NIMC DG and her team for their effort at raising the Commission’s profile within a short period since her resumption of office.

He pledged that the Committee would give maximum support to the NIMC to ensure it achieves its mandate.
The retreat had in attendance members of the House of Representatives Committee on Population and management staff of the NIMC.
Established by the NIMC Act No. 23 of 2007, the Commission has the mandate to establish, own, operate, maintain and manage the National Identity Database in Nigeria.
He pledged that the Committee would give maximum support to NIMC to ensure it achieves its mandate.
