Operatives of the Nigerian Immigration Services have reportedly quizzed Omoyele Sowore, convener of #RevolutionNow protest at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, upon his arrival in Nigeria.
Sowore’s arrest may be connected to the 10-day #EndBadGovernance protest which was held across the country in August.
In a post via his official X handle, Sowore disclosed that he had been detained by the Nigerian Immigration Service and his international passport confiscated.
He wrote: “I had just arrived in Nigeria from the USA at MMIA in Lagos; upon reaching Nigerian Immigration, my passport was seized, and they told me they had orders to detain me.

“This is not unexpected because I have always known that it is part of the broader clampdown by the fascist @officialAbat regime on dissent and their fear of the upcoming #FearlessINOctober revolt.
“In case this becomes another prolonged and protracted detention, I urge our citizens to ensure they ALL stop tyranny by all means acceptable and necessary, by engaging in the planned series of direct actions slated for 1 October and beyond.”
Recall that Sowore had disclosed that the Nigerian security forces were attempting to track him down in his hometown in Ondo State.
The former presidential candidate claimed that security agencies were plotting to frame him as guilty of bogus offences.
He had disclosed this via his verified Facebook page on Saturday.
Sowore said: “Yeah! All around in my home town, they’re tryin’ to track me down, yeah! They say they want to bring me in guilty.
“However Babylon must fall! #FearlessInOctober.”
Earlier in September, it was reported that Nigeria’s secret police had instructed airport security and immigration authorities to intercept and detain Sowore upon his arrival in Nigeria.
It was learnt that the directive, issued by the newly appointed DSS Director General, Adeola Ajayi, stemmed from Sowore’s role in the recent 10-day #EndBadGovernance protests.
