Trump claims Iran plots to assassinate him, warns of U.S. retaliation

Former President Donald Trump asserted that Iran has already made attempts on his life that “didn’t work out” and warned that they may try again.

Trump in a post on social media expressed grave concerns following a briefing from U.S. intelligence officials about serious threats against him, declaring, “Big threats on my life by Iran.

The entire U.S. Military is watching and waiting. He emphasized the precarious situation he finds himself in, stating “I am surrounded by more men, guns, and weapons than I have ever seen before.”

Trump’s claims come in the wake of a recent intelligence briefing from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, which confirmed credible threats directed at him by Iranian operatives. His campaign spokesperson noted that these threats are part of a broader strategy by Iran to destabilize the United States and sow chaos ahead of the upcoming presidential election.

In his statement, Trump thanked Congress for its bipartisan support in increasing funding for the Secret Service, highlighting that there were “zero ‘NO’ votes” in favor of enhancing his security measures. He remarked, “It’s nice to see Republicans and Democrats get together on something,” underscoring the gravity of the situation he faces.

The former president’s comments also reflect ongoing tensions between the U.S. and Iran, particularly following the assassination of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani in 2020 a move ordered by Trump himself. Since then, Iranian officials have repeatedly denied any involvement in plots against Trump or interference in U.S. electoral processes.

Despite these denials, Trump’s campaign has linked recent security incidents to potential Iranian actions. Notably, there was a shooting at a rally in Pennsylvania earlier this year where Trump sustained minor injuries, an event that has raised alarms about his safety and led to increased protective measures.

The intelligence community has been monitoring threats from Iran for years, especially against former administration officials who were involved in actions perceived as hostile by Tehran. National Security Council spokesperson Adrienne Watson confirmed that these threats have been taken seriously and are continuously assessed for potential risks.

In light of these developments, Trump has called for a strong response should any assassination attempt succeed: “If they do ‘assassinate President Trump,’ which is always a possibility, I hope that America obliterates Iran, wipes it off the face of the Earth,” he stated emphatically on his social media platform.

As tensions escalate and security measures intensify around Trump, analysts suggest that this situation could further complicate U.S.-Iran relations and influence the political landscape as the 2024 presidential election approaches.
