A high court in Ilorin, Kwara State, delivered a ruling on Thursday, sentencing five men to death by hanging for their involvement in the notorious Offa bank robbery that occurred in April 2018.

The presiding judge, Justice Haleemah Salman, found the accused—Ayoade Akinnibosun, Ibikunle Ogunleye, Abiodun Ojo, Opeyemi Ojo, and Adebayo Ogunbiyi—guilty of multiple offenses including armed robbery and illegal possession of firearms. The court’s ruling emphasized that the gravity of their crimes warranted the ultimate penalty under Nigerian law.
