Kylian Mbappé, one of the world’s most celebrated footballers, has urged parents to reconsider how they train their children to foster the next football superstar.

In a recent interview with Clique TV on Monday, Mbappé discussed a troubling trend in youth sports known as “Project Mbappé.” This phenomenon has seen parents meticulously documenting and enforcing strict training schedules for their children, driven by the desire to replicate the remarkable success that Mbappé has achieved in his own career.

Mbappé expressed concern over this approach, firmly stating: “Stop it! Cut everything… my parents let me enjoy myself.” highlighting the pressure it places on young athletes.

He believes that the focus should be on allowing children to enjoy the game rather than adhering to intense training regimens. This trend, while well-intentioned, may lead to burnout and detract from the joy of playing football.

Additionally, the Real Madrid star made it clear that he does not subscribe to the notion that overtraining young players is a surefire path to success.

He pointed out the fallacy in the belief that pushing children to their limits will guarantee they become great players.

“Just because you make him run 18 laps of the field at 8 years old doesn’t mean it’s going to change everything,” he remarked, highlighting that talent and success in football cannot simply be manufactured through extreme training.

Instead, he advocates for a more balanced approach that prioritizes enjoyment and personal development in the sport.
