Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has officially signed the ₦1.1 trillion 2025 Budget into law.
In a speech following the signing on Thursday, January 2, 2025, Fubara commended the Victor Oko-Jumbo-led State Assembly for its work.
He also reaffirmed that the only legitimate House of Assembly in the state is the one headed by Oko-Jumbo.
The governor made this statement while enacting the 2025 Appropriation Bill, a week after submitting it to the Assembly.
Fubara declared that Martins Amaewhule and 26 other defected lawmakers, who switched from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC, are no longer recognized as legislators, despite their attempts to retract their actions.

The Amaewhule group remains loyal to former governor Nyesom Wike, who has been in conflict with Fubara.
The governor emphasized that, despite giving them time to reconsider, the decision to disqualify them is final and irreversible.
He also noted the significant disrespect he has endured as governor but affirmed his commitment to steering Rivers State toward greater progress.
The signed budget, which covers spending until December 31, 2025, consists of 12 sections.
