The councillors from Ikpoba-Okha and Oredo Local Government Councils visited Dr. Asue Ighodalo on Saturday, the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate for the Edo 2024 governorship election, in Benin City to show their solidarity.

The leaders of the legislative arms of Ikpoba-Okha and Oredo, Hon. Kingsley Balogban and Hon. Harrison Izekor, headed their respective councils during the visit.

They stated that the purpose of the visit was to show their unwavering support for Dr. Ighodalo and to publicly affirm their loyalty to the PDP, even as some of their colleagues face political persecution.

Dr. Ighodalo expressed his gratitude for the gesture, praising the councillors’ decision as praiseworthy.

He mentioned that he was deeply touched by their visit, calling it exemplary, heartening, and a clear representation of party loyalty.

He encouraged the councillors to remain strong and steadfast, always prioritizing the party above all else.

Dr. Ighodalo also pointed out that the intimidation and threats currently faced by chairmen and councillors across the state would soon subside.

“I very much appreciate this decision of yours. It is exemplary, commendable, and heart-warming. It is at moments like this that people’s character and what they stand for or their principles are clearly demonstrated. I thank you all.

“I urge you to continue to stand by the party and remain resolute. PDP is your party, and the people freely gave you guys their mandate. Don’t let them down no matter the pressure, intimidation, or threats. All these intimidation and threats are a passing phase, they will soon become a thing of the past,” he stated.

Dr. Eric Osayande, the chairman of the Ikpoba-Okha council, expressed his gratitude to the councillors for their support and solidarity, highlighting the smooth working relationship he has had with the Ikpoba-Okha councillors since he became the council chairman.

The visit was attended by prominent PDP figures, including the deputy governorship candidate, Barr. Osarodion Ogie Esq., the Director-General of the 2024 PDP Campaign Council in the state, Hon. Matthew Iduoriyekemwen, the Ikpoba-Okha council chairman, Dr. Eric Osayande, the Oredo council chairman, Dr. Tom Obaseki, other senior PDP members, and all the councillors of Ikpoba-Okha and Oredo Local Government Councils.
