The Anambra State Police Command has arrested over 300 suspects and rescued 14 kidnapped victims, including three children stolen from Bauchi State in 2024.

The police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, shared these details during a press briefing on Monday, revealing that the command had also secured 30 convictions during the same period.

Ikenga further emphasized the successful local government elections held in the state last year and the efforts made by the command to combat criminal activities. These included security advocacy visits to local government headquarters and the formation of a community policing committee to encourage public cooperation.

In a significant breakthrough, Ikenga revealed that the three stolen children from Bauchi were trafficked to Anambra and later sold. The perpetrators, including the children’s foster mother, were apprehended after they confessed to the crime.

The police also reported the recovery of 43 unexploded improvised devices, over 100 firearms, including AK-47s, pump-action guns, and locally-made pistols. Among the notable operations was the destruction of a criminal camp in Nimo, Njikoka LGA, which led to the recovery of 19 unexploded devices.

Furthermore, the police arrested notorious criminal figures, including Pablo, a wanted kidnapper terrorizing Ihiala, Anambra State, as well as two cultists in Awka. The arrests led to the recovery of firearms, criminal charms, and hard drugs.

In addition to these successes, the Anambra police recovered about 40 stolen vehicles and over 2,900 rounds of ammunition.
