The Jigawa State Government has finalized plans to create an agency dedicated to teachers’ training and the professional development of education managers.
Prof. Isa Yusuf, the Commissioner for Higher Education, Science, and Technology, shared this information Tuesday at a one-day cluster training for English Language, Mathematics, and Science teachers in Dutse.
The training, titled “Cluster Training for Effective Teaching of English, Mathematics and Sciences: A Strategy for Improving Students’ Outcomes,” was organized for selected teachers from across the five senatorial zones of the state.

Yusuf revealed that the state government had already formed a committee to oversee the smooth establishment of the agency.
The commissioner further explained that the agency would be tasked with organizing capacity-building programs for teachers and other stakeholders involved in educational management in the state.
“The agency will be responsible for conducting series of training for teachers throughout the year.”
“It will be led by an expert in educational management, and competent resource persons will be engaged to train our teachers, even in Information and Communication Technology, ICT,” the commissioner remarked.
He emphasized that this initiative was aimed at ensuring teachers in the state are properly equipped to improve student performance.
The commissioner also reassured the participants that the state government was placing great importance on the welfare and professional development of teachers through its dynamic policies and programs.
He mentioned that one of the steps taken to achieve these objectives was the ongoing renovation of staff rooms and offices, including those of principals and directors in senior secondary schools across the state.
Additionally, Yusuf mentioned the procurement of furniture for teachers, principals, and directors in the state’s senior secondary schools.
He urged the teachers to respond to these efforts by dedicating themselves to their roles in order to enhance students’ outcomes.
The commissioner also noted that the ministry had allocated funds in its 2025 budget for the construction of staff quarters in all day senior secondary schools.
He explained that this initiative was intended to allow teachers to live on the school premises, which would help them perform their duties with greater dedication.
