Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has officially inaugurated the Osi Campus of Kwara State University, KWASU.
He describes it as a vital step toward fostering inclusive growth and prosperity across the state.
The launch, which took place on Wednesday in Osi, Ekiti Local Government Area, marked another milestone in the governor’s commitment to expanding access to quality education and development in all parts of Kwara.
Governor AbdulRazaq emphasized that the new campus symbolizes more than just the completion of a project.
It reflects his administration’s determination to avoid abandoned projects and drive sustainable development, particularly in the southern regions of the state.
“The Osi and Ilesha Baruba campuses stand as proof of our pledge to not leave projects unfinished,” he said. “This is about the future of our state, not the political history of any one project.”
The governor highlighted that the campuses would serve as catalysts for economic growth and human capital development in the region, creating new opportunities for young people and fostering a stronger sense of inclusion.
He noted that the infrastructure, including state-of-the-art studios, lecture halls, and laboratories, had met high standards as confirmed by the National Universities Commission , NUC.
“The Osi campus is not just a physical structure; it is a beacon of hope for future generations,” AbdulRazaq remarked. “It stands as a testament to hard work, commitment, and our administration’s passion for social inclusion and sustainable development”, he noted.
Dr. Mary Arinde, the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, lauded the campus as a bold initiative to bring education closer to the people and promote regional development.

KWASU’s Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof. Abdulganiyu Ambali, also congratulated both the state government and the Osi community, assuring that the facility would be utilized to its full potential.
Prof. Jimoh Shaykh-Luqman, KWASU’s Vice-Chancellor, highlighted the significance of the Osi campus in promoting innovation and research.
The campus will house the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, with several new programs approved by the NUC, including Geography and Remote Sensing, Urban and Regional Planning, and Estate Management.
Plans are underway to introduce additional programs in Architecture and Quantity Surveying in the upcoming academic session.
The Olosi of Osi, Oba Saliu Adasofegbe, praised the governor for fulfilling his promises, calling him a leader of great integrity and vision.
The event was attended by senior government officials, academic leaders, royals, and party members, underscoring the importance of the Osi campus to the region’s educational and developmental aspirations.
The launch of the Osi campus marks a key achievement in the state’s educational reforms, promising to contribute to Kwara’s growth for years to come.
