The abductors of the former NYSC Director-General, retired General Maharazu Tsiga who was seized from his home in Katsina State on February 6 are demanding a ransom of N250 million for his release.
The attackers numbering about a hundred stormed his Tsiga village abode around midnight on Wednesday and before forcibly took him and nine other residents away during the raid.
Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers began breaking doors, prompting Tsiga to step outside and question their intentions. He was then seized and taken away.
A source close to the family confirmed that the kidnappers have since reached out with their demands.
Efforts to get a statement from security agencies, including the army’s 17 Brigade in Katsina and the police, have so far been unsuccessful, as officials have not responded to inquiries about the incident.
