On-air personality, Nedu Wazobia has addressed speculations surrounding his departure from The Honest Bunch podcast, stating that he was not fired but chose to step down due to mounting controversies.

At a press conference in Lagos on Thursday, Nedu explained that his decision was aimed at avoiding unnecessary conflicts. He described his role on the show as that of a “devil’s advocate,” designed to spark thought-provoking discussions.

“My job was to ask questions that would create debates and controversies, which I successfully accomplished,” he said.

Tensions escalated on the podcast after reality star DeeOne alleged that social media critic VeryDarkMan, VDM, had intimate relationships with men. In response, VDM accused Nedu of orchestrating the claims and leaking private conversations. He further accused the media personality of sexual exploitation.

Amid the heated backlash, Nedu stepped away from the podcast on February 14. However, rumors soon spread that he was fired due to the controversy.

Clarifying his stance, Nedu dismissed the claims and stressed that his decision was about self-preservation. He also announced that he would no longer be accessible to the public.

“To be honest, I’m done being nice. My niceness has been taken for granted, and I’ve been abused by people who claim to be my friends. I need to take care of myself and prioritize my well-being,” he said.

His management team condemned the allegations against him and announced legal action against those making defamatory claims.

“The accusations against Nedu have crossed the line. We will not tolerate any further attacks on his character. Lawyers will be taking necessary steps to address these false claims,” the statement read.

With his exit from The Honest Bunch, Nedu has made it clear that his focus is now on protecting his peace and well-being.
