Founder of Remo Stars Football Club, Kunle Soname has pledged N2.5m to Nigeria’s U-17 women’s team, the Flamingos.
This donation comes as they get ready for their second-round match against South Africa in the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
Currently training at the Remo Stars facilities in Ikenne, Ogun State, the Flamingos are gearing up for their first-leg match at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria, South Africa.
Soname made the donation on Wednesday after watching the team play a 1-1 draw against Beyond Limits Football Academy. Impressed by their performance, he praised the players for their determination and fighting spirit.

“I’m very happy with the Flamingos’ performance against Beyond Limits. They’ve achieved what my senior team couldn’t, and I believe they’ll do well in South Africa,” Soname said.
As a sign of support, he announced a N500,000 incentive for their strong display in the friendly match. He also promised N1m for a victory in South Africa and another N1m if they win the return leg on March 13 at the Remo Stars Sports Stadium.
Soname encouraged the players and officials to give their best, reminding them that Nigeria is not only Africa’s top women’s footballing nation but also one of the best in the world.
With Soname’s financial boost and motivational words, the Flamingos will aim to make Nigeria proud in this critical qualifier.
