Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has dismissed concerns over Jack Grealish’s off-field activities, insisting he will judge the England international solely on his performances.
Images recently surfaced of Grealish enjoying a night out in Newcastle, a day after playing the full 90 minutes in City’s FA Cup fifth-round win over Plymouth. Reports highlighted his interactions with locals and generosity at a social club, where he covered drink expenses for other customers.
Addressing the situation, Guardiola remained unfazed. “A day off is a day off. They have private lives to do whatever they want,” he stated. “I judge what I see on the pitch, the training sessions, and the performances in the game.”
Despite his £100m price tag, Grealish has started just one Premier League match since early December, raising questions about his long-term future. With his contract running until 2027 and England’s next World Cup campaign approaching, speculation continues over his role at Man City.

Guardiola hinted at a squad shake-up following a challenging season in both the Premier League and Champions League. The club invested £59m in Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush during the winter window, with further reinforcements expected in the summer.
Reflecting on Grealish’s ambitions, Guardiola acknowledged his international aspirations but stressed that squad decisions would be made later. “It’s good to have a dream to play in the World Cup and Euros. What happens in terms of Jack and everyone else will be treated at the end of the season,” he said.
For now, Man City remains focused on their push for silverware, with Guardiola’s priority firmly on what happens on the pitch.
