Barcelona have registered interest in Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman, identifying the Super Eagles star as a potential solution to their long-standing left-wing dilemma.
The 27-year-old, recently crowned CAF Player of the Year, has been a standout performer in Serie A. His heroics last season played a key role in Atalanta’s historic Europa League triumph, drawing the attention of top European clubs.
For multiple seasons, Barcelona have struggled without a natural left winger. Their pursuit of Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams last term ended in disappointment, and while Raphinha has adapted well to the role, the club remains keen on reinforcing the position.
With AC Milan’s Rafael Leão no longer a realistic target due to his sustained form, the Blaugrana have now turned their sights to Lookman. The versatile forward, valued between €25-30 million, is seen as a perfect fit for Hansi Flick’s system, capable of operating both as a winger and a second striker.
Lookman’s contract with Atalanta runs until 2027, but tensions with manager Gian Piero Gasperini could pave the way for a summer move. If Barcelona push forward with their interest, they may finally secure the left-winger they have long sought.
