Gunmen have killed the leader of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, in Kwara State, Alhaji Idris Abubakar Sakaina.

The attack happened around 10:00 p.m. on Saturday in Oke Ose, Ilorin, where the assailants ambushed him outside his residence and opened fire before fleeing without taking anything.

A source close to the scene described the killing as shocking. “His attackers left him in a pool of blood without stealing anything. Their motive remains unclear,” the source said.

A witness, Aina’u Sarki, recalled her last moments with the deceased. “I was with him just 20 minutes before he was killed. Then I received a call informing me of his death,” she said.

The Special Assistant to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Inter-Community Relations, Muhammed Abdullahi, confirmed the incident, adding that preparations for Sakaina’s burial were underway. He also stated that police had visited the scene and launched an investigation.

The spokesperson for the Kwara State Police Command, Ejire-Adeyemi Toun, acknowledged the incident but had yet to provide further details at the time of this report.

Sakaina, 32, was a former Special Assistant to the Moro Local Government Chairman and a prominent youth leader within the Fulani community. His assassination has sparked concerns and left many residents in mourning as authorities work to uncover those responsible.
