A woman, whose identity remains unknown, has been confirmed dead after reportedly jumping into the lagoon from the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.

Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, stated that the incident occurred around 4:00 p.m. on Thursday near the University of Lagos ,UNILAG, waterfront.

The Marine Police swiftly responded to the situation.

Hundeyin further confirmed that the woman’s body was recovered from the UNILAG shore slipway, where she was pronounced dead by medical personnel from the university, in the presence of police officers from the Sabo division.

The body has been transported to the Infectious Disease Hospital Mortuary in Yaba for preservation, and authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.
