The Police on Wednesday exhumed the body of a 28-year-old Lagos State University, graduate, Adedamola Ogunbode, who was buried in a shallow grave behind the university’s Ojo Campus fence.
Ogunbode, a Political Science Education graduate, had been missing since January 16, sparking a police investigation that led to the arrest of four suspects, with four others still on the run.
The suspects were said to have emptied Ogunbode’s bank account and shared the funds among themselves.
At the exhumation site, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin disclosed that one of the arrested suspects led detectives to the grave.
“Following a missing person report at Ojo Police Division, the new Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olohundare Jimoh ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case on February 18. This escalated the matter from a missing person report to suspected murder,” Hundeyin said.

“With the body now recovered, we are closing in on wrapping up the investigation. Justice will be served, and those responsible will face prosecution,” Hundeyin assured.
Meanwhile, the police have sealed a church where one of the suspects worshipped, following intelligence reports of a planned arson attack in retaliation for the murder.
Hundeyin emphasized that the decision was taken to prevent further violence.
Among those present at the exhumation site were police personnel, health workers, local government officials, LASU students and lecturers, as well as residents of Ojo.
