The Police in Abuja are on the trail of kidnappers who seized a Naval officer attached to the Defence Headquarters, Lieutenant Cynthia Akor, along with two others Friday.

The victims were taken from their residence in the Mpape area of the Federal Capital Territory.

There are indicatings that the kidnappers have reached out to the victims’ families, demanding a ransom of N100 million.

The abduction has raised concerns about the growing insecurity in Abuja, as kidnappings continue to spread beyond rural areas into the heart of the city. Residents of Mpape expressed fear over the attack, calling for urgent intervention from security agencies.

Efforts to reach senior military officials for comments have not been successful. The Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, and the Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, have not responded to inquiries regarding the incident.

The spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, Josephine Adeh, stated that she would verify the incident and provide further details. However, as of the time of filing this report, no official confirmation or update are available.

Security agencies are expected to take swift action to secure the victims’ release, as concerns mount over the safety of residents in the nation’s capital.
