A remarkable feat in the art world has been achieved by 15-year-old Nigerian artist Kanyeyachukwu Tagbo-Okeke, who has set a new Guinness World Record for the Largest Painting.

His record-breaking artwork, titled Impossibility is a Myth, was unveiled in Abuja to commemorate the 2025 World Autism Awareness Day.

The massive painting, measuring an astonishing 12,303 square meters—more than twice the size of a football field—surpassed the previous record by nearly 3,000 square meters. The unveiling ceremony took place at Eagles’ Square, drawing civil society groups, diplomats, traditional rulers, government officials, and art stakeholders.

During the event, Tagbo-Okeke was officially presented with his Guinness certificate, recognizing his extraordinary achievement. His success highlights the limitless potential of individuals with autism and serves as a testament to perseverance and talent.

Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, praised the young artist’s accomplishment, describing it as a “historic and inspiring milestone.” She emphasized that age and challenges should never limit greatness and that every Nigerian, regardless of background or disability, can make meaningful contributions.

Tagbo-Okeke’s father, Mr. Tagbo Okeke, shared insights into his son’s artistic journey, noting his early fascination with color and the structured routines that helped him focus. He explained that Impossibility is a Myth encapsulates the struggles and triumphs experienced in creating such a large-scale painting.

The UN Resident Coordinator in Nigeria, Dr. Mohamed Fall, represented by Cristian Munduate of UNICEF, stressed the importance of disability inclusion in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. He advocated for equal opportunities for people with disabilities to showcase their talents.

Senator Victor Umeh, representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, lauded Tagbo-Okeke’s achievement, emphasizing that children with autism can be highly productive when provided with the right education and care. He urged the government to invest more in specialized education for autistic children to unlock their potential.

MTN Nigeria’s Head of Retail, Chikaodi Ofoegbu, also spoke at the event, calling for an environment that nurtures innovation and inclusivity. She encouraged Nigerians to support creativity and ensure that every individual, regardless of ability, has the chance to thrive.
