The Police has summoned the Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi to Abuja for interrogation regarding the violence which trailed the recent Sallah festivities in Kano.
On March 30, 2025, a clash reportedly involving members of Sanusi’s entourage led to the death of a vigilante member and injuries to others. The Kano State Police Command subsequently arrested a 20-year-old suspect, Usman Sagiru, of Sharifai Quarters, in connection with the attack.
Authorities also launched an inquiry into the incident and invited Alhaji Wada Isyaku, the Shamakin Kano, for questioning.
An official correspondence dated April 4, 2025, and signed by the Commissioner of Police (Operations), CP Olajide Rufus Ibitoye, has invited Sanisi to appear at the Force Intelligence Department headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.
The invitation, the letter noted, was issued on the orders of the Inspector General of Police.
