Ogun Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, says it will set up special operations to check the recklessness of truck drivers in the state.
Mr. Fasakin Akinwumi, the FRSC Sector Commander in Ogun, stated on Monday in Ota that the establishment of special operations would help minimize the frequent occurrences of road crashes.
Akinwumi spoke against the backdrop of three separate accidents that claimed 25 lives in the state on Saturday.
He explained that six people lost their lives in the first crash on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The second crash claimed one life on the Sagamu axis, while the third accident killed 18 persons at Gbaga on the Ikorodu-Sagamu road.

“The three road crashes were caused by the recklessness of truck drivers on the highways, following disregard for speed limits.
“However, the FRSC will intensify its enforcement, especially on the installation of speed limit devices for trucks and trailers, which are fond of flouting speed limit directives,” he assured.
The sector commander appealed to motorists to desist from excessive speed and wrong overtaking to prevent avoidable road crashes.
