SThe Northern Nigerian Youth Leaders Forum, NNYLF, has appealed to the Federal Government to deploy security agencies to end the ongoing killings and violence in parts of Benue State.
This was contained in a statement issued on Monday, jointly signed by the State Coordinator, Mr. Martin Zoho, and the Secretary, Mr. Innocent Okoh, in Makurdi.
“We wish to express our displeasure over the deteriorating security situation in parts of Benue, which has led to killings, maiming, rape cases, kidnapping, and other criminal activities,” the statement read.
“As a matter of utmost priority and concern, we are appealing to the Federal Government to collaborate with the state government, local governments, and the affected communities to immediately take proactive measures to curb this wanton loss of lives and property, once and for all.”

The group further urged that a comprehensive approach be drawn up to address these incidents by incorporating peacebuilding mechanisms and other beneficial measures aimed at ensuring lasting peace and security in the affected areas.
“In the meantime, palliatives and reliefs should be provided to victims to alleviate the effects of these unfortunate events,” they added.
The group commended Governor Hyacinth Alia for his recent visit to some of the affected areas to commiserate with the victims of the attacks, particularly in Gwer-West and Otukpo Local Government Areas.
