The Governing Council of Kwara State University, KWASU, Malete, has approved the promotion of 28 academic staff members to the professorial cadre.
This decision was reached during the Council’s 73rd meeting held on Thursday, April 10. In a statement issued by the Acting Director of University Relations, Dr. Saeedat Aliyu, it was confirmed that three individuals were promoted to the rank of full professor, while 25 others were elevated to associate professorship across various faculties.
The newly confirmed full professors include Professor Shehu Abdulganiyu Salau from the Faculty of Agriculture, with specialization in Agricultural Production Economics; Professor Moshood Zakariyah of the Faculty of Arts, specializing in Sociolinguistics; and Professor Olayiwola Gafar Olorisade of the Faculty of Education, a scholar in Educational Administration.
Those promoted to associate professorship cut across eight faculties. In the Faculty of Agriculture, the list includes Dr. Latifat Kehinde Olatinwo and Dr. Felicia Motunrayo Olooto, both experts in Agricultural Extension and Rural Development; Dr. Olarinke Victoria Adeniyi, Aquaculture Management; Dr. James Adebayo Ojo, Entomology; and Dr. Akeem Olayemi Raji, Food Processing Technology.

In the Faculty of Arts, the Council confirmed Dr. Yahya Toyin Muritala (Arabic Syntax and Modern Arabic Linguistics and Translation), Dr. Yunusa Muhammed Jamiu (Modern Arabic Literature), Dr. Oluwatomi Oluwatayo Adeoti (Pragmatics and Discourse Studies), Dr. Sherifat Hussain-Abubakar (Islamic Family Law and Gender Studies), and Dr. Khalid Ishola Bello (Islamic Economics).
The Faculty of Engineering has Engineer Dr. Olalekan Ogunbiyi (Power System and Automatic Control Engineering), Engineer Dr. Rasheed Amao Busari (Farm Power and Machinery), and Engineer Dr. Kamoru Olufemi Oladosu (Production and Renewable Energy).
Others include Dr. Usman Tunde Saadu (Educational Psychology, Education Faculty), Dr. Ronke Seyi Babatunde (Machine Learning and AI, ICT Faculty), Dr. Olariyike Damola Akintoye and Dr. Abdullahi Saliu Ishola (Law Faculty), Dr. Abdullahi Alabi (Comparative Politics and Administration), Dr. Idris Danjuma Mohammed (Development Studies and Local Government Administration), and Dr. Ibrahim Ogirima Salawu (Public Policy and Governance).
From the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences, Dr. Emmanuel Anyachukwu Irondi (Food and Nutritional Biochemistry), Dr. Abdulazeez Kayode Jimoh and Dr. Kazeem Issa (Numerical Analysis), Dr. Wasiu Akanni Yahya (Theoretical and Computational Physics), and Dr. Abiodun Obembe (Entomology) were also promoted.
