The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has published the results of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, resit, conducted for 336,845 candidates whose initial exams were disrupted due to technical issues at designated centres across the country.
In a statement issued on Sunday by JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the board clarified that the resit was held exclusively for candidates from sessions previously declared invalid or inconclusive due to glitches such as system crashes, power failures, and biometric verification errors. All valid sessions from the original exams were filtered out to avoid duplication or unnecessary retakes.
Despite the rescheduling efforts, 21,082 candidates failed to appear for the retake, raising questions about awareness and candidate engagement. JAMB did not provide specific reasons for the high absentee rate but emphasized that the resit opportunity was publicized extensively through official channels and direct SMS notifications.

The board reiterated its commitment to transparency and fairness, noting that the resit results have been made available on the JAMB portal for individual access. Candidates are advised to log in with their credentials to view or print their results.
This announcement marks the latest in a series of measures taken by JAMB to improve examination integrity and address lapses in its computer-based testing infrastructure. Earlier in May, JAMB had promised to process and release the resit results within five days of completion, a timeline that has now been fulfilled.
The 2025 UTME cycle has been particularly eventful, with multiple technical challenges leading to criticism from education stakeholders. There are also growing calls for further investment in CBT infrastructure and better collaboration between JAMB and examination centres nationwide to prevent future disruptions.
