Delta Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has announced plans to emulate President Bola Tinubu by adopting a virtual inauguration model to unveil a series of completed state projects on Wednesday in Warri.
The governor made this known on Monday during the commissioning of eight newly constructed four-bedroom duplexes, each with two boys’ quarters, built to house state commissioners in Asaba, the Delta State capital.
Oborevwori said the model, first adopted by Tinubu for federal projects, would allow for a more efficient and coordinated unveiling of infrastructure achievements spread across Delta State. According to him, the volume of completed projects is so extensive that commissioning them one-by-one may not be feasible within the calendar year.
“We have a lot of projects to commission,” he stated. “If we begin now, we may not even be able to conclude them before the end of the year. So, we want to emulate our president and articulate all our completed projects for virtual commissioning in Warri on Wednesday.”

The commissioning of the eight residential units for commissioners is one such milestone. Oborevwori said the initiative was spurred by inadequate housing among commissioners, with only 22 out of 30 accommodated prior to the project. With the new buildings, the state can now boast of 30 housing units for its cabinet members.
He emphasized the importance of collective housing for commissioners, saying it fosters unity, collaboration, and shared values within the government. “When they live close to one another, it encourages team spirit, productivity, and better work ethics,” he said.
The governor also took the opportunity to address speculation about a cabinet reshuffle, stating that while he has not made any public declarations about it, non-performing commissioners may soon be shown the door. “There are rumours of a cabinet dissolution. Let me be clear: if you are not performing, you will be dropped. I have already told one commissioner today that he’s not doing well,” he revealed, adding that three commissioners were currently on his radar for underperformance.
Commissioner for Housing, Mr. Godknows Angele, who supervised the project, expressed gratitude to the governor for entrusting him with the task and praised his hands-on approach to supervision. He highlighted the rapid progress of the project, which was approved in February and completed in record time.
State Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Fidelis Tilije, also commended the governor’s commitment to staff welfare, urging him to renovate the older 22 housing units to match the new standards.
The event was attended by several high-profile dignitaries, including the Asagba of Asaba, HRM Obi (Prof.) Epiphany Azinge; APC State Chairman Elder Omeni Sobotie; and State Chief Judge, Justice Tessy Diai.
As Delta marks the second anniversary of the Oborevwori administration, the move to inaugurate projects virtually is seen as both a cost-effective and inclusive method to showcase governance impact statewide.
