With three second half goals, the Super Falcons of Nigeria Saturday night completed Mission X in grand style by defeating the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco to win the 2024 Women African Cup of Nations, WAFCON.
The indomitable ladies have now won the championship a record 10 times.
It was de ja vu for Morocco. Having lost to South Africa in the last final, also on home soil, it’s heartbreak again to face defeat as the players wept uncontrollably at the blast of the whistle.
President Tinubu hailed the victory as a symbol of resilience and national pride.
”The Super Falcons’ spectacular performance tonight in Rabat, coming from behind to beat a spirited Moroccan side playing in front of a passionate home crowd, exemplifies the determination that defines the Nigerian spirit.”
