The Niger State Government has identified Greg Ozegbe architect and Hilton hotel consultant, as the man found dead in a Minna guest house last Thursday.
Authorities disclosed his identity on Monday, following initial public confusion over the circumstances of his death.
Ozegbe, who served as a lead architect on the Hilton hotel project in Minna, Niger State, was reportedly on an official visit related to the ongoing development when he was discovered unresponsive in his hotel room. He had checked in the day before, with plans to inspect the site and hold design review meetings with local partners.
Security sources confirmed that the body was found in the early hours of Thursday at a lodge in the Tunga area of the city. Initial reports had withheld the identity of the deceased, pending confirmation and notification of next of kin. By Monday, authorities had matched the remains with Ozegbe’s identity through documents found in his belongings and communication with colleagues.

His firm had been instrumental in the early-stage design and oversight of several Hilton developments across Nigeria. His death has drawn condolences from the architectural community and several professionals in Nigeria’s building and construction sector.
The Hilton hotel project in Minna, a public-private initiative intended to boost tourism and business infrastructure in Niger State, is now facing delays as the development team grapples with the loss of its lead consultant.
Meanwhile, security and forensic teams have cordoned off the hotel room and taken evidence for analysis. No arrests have been made, and officials have advised the public to refrain from speculation until the investigation concludes.
His family has asked for privacy during this time and is cooperating with law enforcement and project partners. Funeral arrangements will be announced soon.
