President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated Dr. Bernard Mohammed Doro, a seasoned healthcare and management expert from Plateau State, for a ministerial role in his administration.
The nomination, which awaits Senate confirmation, was announced on Tuesday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
According to Onanuga, the President has officially forwarded Dr. Doro’s name to the National Assembly for screening and approval.
The appointment comes as part of Tinubu’s broader effort to strengthen his cabinet with professionals who possess both local and international expertise.
Dr. Doro boasts an impressive record spanning over 20 years in clinical practice, pharmaceutical management, and leadership.
His experience cuts across the public and private health sectors in Nigeria and the United Kingdom, making him a rare blend of global exposure and national commitment.
He holds multiple degrees in pharmacy and law, alongside an MBA in IT-driven business strategy and a master’s in advanced clinical practice.
Dr. Doro is also a certified Independent Prescriber and Advanced Clinical Practitioner, having served in the UK’s National Health Service where he contributed to improving patient care delivery systems.

The nomination fills the ministerial vacancy left by Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, the former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.
Yilwatda was elected in July as the National Chairman of the APC, prompting the need for a replacement from Plateau State to maintain regional representation within the cabinet.
If confirmed by the Senate, Dr. Doro is expected to bring his multidisciplinary background to bear on government policymaking, particularly in areas intersecting healthcare delivery, technology, and governance reform.
Senate deliberations on his nomination are expected to take place during the next plenary session, after which committee screenings will follow.
With this appointment, President Tinubu continues to adjust his ministerial team in response to evolving political dynamics and leadership transitions within the ruling APC.
