Security operatives on Friday morning rescued two staff of the United States Consulate abducted in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra on Tuesday.
DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, Anambra Police Command Spokesman, in a statement issued in Awka disclosed that the two were rescued unhurt by joint security forces.
Credible News reports that gunmen ambushed the convoy of the consulate officials on Tuesday, killing seven, including two embassy staff, four policemen and a driver.
Some of those killed were burnt in their vehicles by the gunmen along Atani-Osamala road in Anambra while the hoodlums took two staff of the embassy hostage.
Ikenga said the security forces will sustain security operation in the area.
The police spokesman said further details would be communicated to the public on the operation.
