President Bola Tinubu has approved the indefinite suspension from office of Mr. AbdulRasheed Bawa as the Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
The step will allow for proper investigation into his conduct while in office after weighty allegations of abuse of office levelled against him.
A statement from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation disclosed that Bawa has been directed to immediately handover the affairs of his office to the Director, Operations in the Commission, who will oversee the affairs of the Office of the Chairman of the Commission pending the conclusion of the investigation.
Credible News reports that Bawa was recently engaged in a brick-bat with the former governor of Zamfara State, Ibrahim Matawalle both trading allegations of fraud and bribery.
Matawalle specifically accused Bawa of demanding a $2 million bribe to cover allegations of money laundering against the erstwhile governor.
