Arsenal Football Club has won the 2023 Community Shield, defeating Premier League Champions, Manchester City 4-1 on penalties at Wembley Stadium.

Credible  News reports that The Gunners have now won all three encounters against City for the Community Shield title.

The match ended 1-1 on regular 90mins duration time which necessitates shootouts to decide which team claim the Community Shield.

Arsenal scored all four kicks while City managed to score one.

Earlier, after a cagey first half, in which City had no shot on target, the champions took the lead on 77 minutes from a Palmer stunner.

Cole Palmer got a shot away from the edge of the box and scored, curling the ball into the top left corner, with Kevin De Bruyne providing the assist for the goal.

Arsenal equalised on added time after Akanji deflected the ball into his own net. Bukayo Saka passed the ball to Leandro Trossard and he fired in a shot from the edge of the box which was deflected in.

Towards the end of the match, a defence-splitting pass was taken in his stride by Phil Foden in the box. Without even looking up he drilled a shot low towards the middle of the goal, but Aaron Ramsdale pulled off a comfortable save.

Seven minutes to duration time, Rodri jumped for a header from the resulting corner kick and sent the ball in on goal, but the goalkeeper made a very good save.

Earlier, Kai Havertz took a good first touch from the pass, but mishits his shot low towards the middle of the goal and allowed the Stefan Ortega to make a comfortable save.

In the 25th minute, Gabriel Martinelli reacted well to get to the rebound and took a shot from the edge of the box, but he failed to get the ball through the players standing between him and the goal.

At 40 minutes, a fine pass found Havertz in space inside the box, he looked up and drilled a low shot towards the middle of the goal, but the Stefan Ortega reacted superbly to deny him.
