Tinubu tasks new ministers to “hit the ground running” immediately

President Bola Tinubu has tasked the new 45 ministers to make themselves worthy by beginning their assignments immediately while striving to meet the expectations of Nigerians for a renewed socio-economic development.

“Your assignment begins immediately and you must work to make yourself worthy of God and the people to make Nigerians believe that the right hands are chosen. I believe in you and Government can be a progressive way to gain public confidence and trust”, Tinubu said after the inauguration of the ministers at the State House Banquet Hall on Monday in Abuja.

The President added that the administration came at a time that the country needed a renewal and reforms in all ramifications

The President said: “Nigerians expect you to hit the ground running just as we had promised them during our campaigns. With your inauguration today, you have become ministers of the Federal Republic not ministers of a particular state or region.

“Nigerians expects a lot and they deservedly want to see changes in their lives. You are now in the same boat with me and they expect that their lives would take a new and better turn”, he charged.

Tinubu said that the new ministers reflected the different diversities of the country and were chosen for their tract record of success and achievements in their various fields of endeavours.

“The challenges we face today are daunting but we have the opportunity to implement long due reforms that would bring about peace, safety and prosperity of our people as contained in our renewed hope agenda.

“We are about to accelerate our governing efforts, move forward and realise our aspirations for Nigerians. Tremendous responsibilities follow this appointment and all of you are expected to contribute your quota to deliver accountable, efficiently and effective service to Nigerians.

Credible News reports that those sworn in are former Rivers Governor, Nyesom Wike as Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Wale Edun as Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola as Marine and Blue Economy Minister, David Umahi as Minister of Works, Festus Keyamo as Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, and Betta Edu as Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Minister.

Also among those sworn in are Bosun Tijani as the Minister for Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Ishak Salaco as Minister for State, Environment and Ecological Management, Tunisia Alausa as the Minister for State, Health and Social Welfare, Dele Alake as Solid Minerals Development Minister, Lola Ade-John as the Minister of Tourism, Sa’idu Alkali as Minister of Transportation, and Bunmi Tunji-Ojo as Minister of Interior.

Some others are Doris Anite as Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Uche Nnaji as Minister of Innovation Science and Technology, Nkiruka Onyejeocha as State, Labour and Employment Minister, Uju Kennedy as Minister of Women Affairs, Abubakar Momoh as Minister of Niger Delta Development, Ekperikpe Ekpo as Minister of State, Petroleum Resources – Gas, and Heineken Lokpobiri as Minister of State, Petroleum Resources – Oil.

The new ministers also include John Enoh as Minister of Sports Development, Hannatu Musawa as Minister of Art, Culture and the Creative Economy, Mohammed Badaru as Defence Minister, Bello Matawalle as State Defence Minister, Yusuf T. Sunumu as State Education Minister, Ahmed M. Dangiwa as Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Abdullah T. Gwarzo as State, Housing and Urban Development Minister, and Atiku Bagudu as Minister of Budget and Economic Planning.

Also sworn in are Mairiga Mahmud as Minister of State, Federal Capital Territory, Bello M. Goronyo as Minister of State, Water Resources and Sanitation, Abubakar Kyar as Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Tahir Maman as Minister of Education, Yusuf M. Tuggar as Foreign Affairs Minister, Ali Pate as Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Ibrahim Geidam as Minister of Police Affairs, U. Maigari Ahmadu as Minister of State, Steel Development, and Shuaibu A. Audu as Minister of Steel Development.

Others are Muhammed Idris as Minister of Information and National Orientation, Lateef Fagbemi as Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Simon B. Lalong as Minister of Labour and Employment, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim as Minister of State, Police Affairs, Zephaniah Jisalo as Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Govermental Affairs, Joseph Utsev as Water Resources and Sanitation Minister, and Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi as State, Agriculture and Food Security Minister.

Credible News reports that the President last Wednesday assigned portfolios to all 45 minister-designates, whose nominations were confirmed by the senate.

And on Sunday, Tinubu redeployed Abubakar Momoh from the Federal Ministry of Youth to the Ministry of Niger Delta Development while Adegboyega Oyetola was redeployed as the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy.
