Lagos State Government will test-run its Electronic Queuing Management System (EQMS) for traffic flow on the Lekki-Epe Corridor from Sept. 4 to Sept. 30.

Permanent Secretary at the state’s Ministry of Transportation, Mr Abdulhafiz Toriola, stated in Ikeja on Thursday that the goal is to improve motoring experience of truck drivers and of commuters along the corridor.

“EQMS is specifically designed to tackle congestion and streamline the movement of goods and services within the Lekki-Epe corridor through intelligent algorithms and cutting-edge technology.

“It aims to efficiently allocate resources and minimise waiting times for trucks.

“Data and insights gained during the pilot phase will be crucial in shaping the full-scale implementation of the e-call up system.

“The execution of this advanced solution underscores government’s commitment to revolutionising transportation in Lagos State.

“This transformation will facilitate economic growth and establish a more sustainable and efficient transportation system.

“EQMS is poised to revolutionise truck traffic management by providing real-time insights and actionable data for optimising truck movement within the Lekki-Epe axis,’’ Toriola stated.

He explained that government was collaborating with a leading transportation management solutions provider to implement the innovative system.

The system, he added, would use advanced technology to optimise traffic flow, operational efficiency, and road safety.

Toriola stated also that government had collaborated with key stakeholders in the transportation and maritime sectors to ensure successful integration of truck drivers onto the EQMS.

Government, he added, had also collaborated with the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, Petroleum Tanker Drivers and the National Association of Road Transport Owners.

The collaborative approach would strengthen industry partnerships, enhance safety measures, and ensure seamless integration of all participants in the transportation ecosystem, Toriola explained. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
