The Anambra State Governor, Charles Chukwuma Soludo is grieving the loss of his father, Simon Soludo, who reportedly passed away in the early hours of Monday after an illness. While an official announcement of the demise is yet to be made, the news has cast a shadow over the governor’s family.

When contacted for confirmation, Soludo’s Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, verified the news, stating, “Yes, it is true. I will soon issue a statement on it.”

Charles Soludo, a prominent figure in Nigerian politics and economics, served as the chairman of the board of directors for the Central Bank of Nigeria and was a former governor of the bank.

He also played a key role on President Buhari’s Presidential Economic Advisory Committee and currently serves as a member of the International Advisory Group of the British Department for International Development.

In February 2021, Soludo declared his intention to run for the position of Governor of Anambra State under the banner of the All Progressives Grand Alliance , APGA.

On November 9, 2021, the Independent National Electoral Commission announced Soludo as the winner of the 2021 Anambra State gubernatorial election and the governor-elect of Anambra State. He was officially issued a certificate of return on November 13, 2021.

On March 17, 2022, Soludo was sworn in as the fifth Governor of Anambra State. During the inaugural event, a notable altercation occurred between Ebele Obiano, the wife of former Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, and Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, the wife of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.

Since March 2022, Charles Chukwuma Soludo has held the esteemed position of governor of Anambra State, impacting the region with his extensive experience in both politics and economics.
