The Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, on Tuesday announced that there will be no vehicular movement as well as movement of canoe, ships and other means of transportation via waterways in Imo, Kogi and Bayelsa State starting from Friday, November 10.

The Inspector-General of Police ,IGP , Kayode Egbetokun, has announced strict security measures to ensure free, fair, and credible elections in Imo, Kogi, and Bayelsa States.

These measures include a ban on vehicular movement and transportation via waterways starting from Friday, November 10, 2023.

The decision is part of the effort to maintain security and order during the election process in these states.

Given the riverine terrain of the regions, marine and gunboats have been deployed, and helicopters will be used for aerial patrols. These security measures aim to prevent disruptions and ensure the safety of voters and election officials.

Additionally, the IGP has prohibited some state security outfits, such as Ebubeagu and other quasi-outfits, from conducting operations during the elections.

By implementing these measures, the Nigerian police are taking significant steps to safeguard the democratic process and protect the integrity of elections in these states.
