The Senate has on Tuesday urged the Federal Government to work with the United Nations and other countries of the world to ensure an immediate ceasefire in the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.

The Upper Chamber of the Nigerian National Assembly has passed a resolution calling on the Federal Government to take steps to end the ongoing conflict in the Israel-Hamas war. This conflict has resulted in the deaths of thousands, including women, children, and aid workers.

The Senate’s call for a two-state solution to resolve the conflict underscores the urgency of the situation and its potential to escalate into a larger regional or global conflict.

The motion was sponsored by Senator Adamu Aliero of the Peoples Democratic Party in Kebbi State and received support from 43 other senators during the plenary session.

The senators emphasized the need to stop the violence immediately and save lives and property in the region.

They also expressed their concerns about the high casualty figures in the conflict, highlighting the potential for further escalation.

This resolution reflects the Senate’s commitment to addressing the humanitarian crisis and advocating for a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Israel. It emphasizes the importance of protecting innocent lives and preventing further violence and instability in the region.
